Real couples · Florence, Italy
Lina and Tom chose Florence for their elopement, and they filled the day with it: a quiet start in a sunlit room, vows on a green lawn, and an afternoon of dancing through the streets of the city. This page follows their day from the first photo to the last.
Planning an elopement in Florence means choosing between a hillside garden, a marble cathedral and a river lined with old palaces. Lina and Tom chose all three. If you are dreaming of a similar day, our Florence elopement page shows how we plan it, and our Italy elopement guide shows the other places we love across the country.
Their story
The morning began slowly. Tom sat at a small desk by a tall window and wrote, and the vow booklet and rings waited beside his shoes and Lina's white bow heels. Nearby, Lina's ruffled dress hung in an arched doorway, then Lina put it on, with help to fasten the back. By the time she held her bouquet, with its peach, lilac and cream flowers, the room was full of light.
They saw each other for the first time on a terrace high above Florence. Lina walked out alone while Tom waited far off by the railing, and when he turned and saw her, the moment was all in their faces. The city and the hills sit behind them, and the afternoon light is warm.
From there the day moved into a garden. On a wide green lawn they stood face to face and read their own vows, Tom from a small book and Lina smiling and listening. They exchanged rings, signed the book, kissed and raised a glass under the trees. Afterwards came quiet portraits beside an old stone statue, forehead to forehead among the flowers.
Then they took the party into the city. Lina and Tom walked into the centre of Florence in full wedding clothes. They danced in front of the Duomo, shared a gelato in a narrow street, spun across the old squares and strolled near Ponte Vecchio and along the Arno. The day ended in a small room, at a candlelit table, just the two of them.
Their story
Lina and Tom's elopement was a Custom-Made Package, which means every part of the day was designed around them, from the terrace first look to the walk through the city. They added videography, hair and makeup, and flowers, so there is a film of the day as well as these photos, and Lina's bouquet carries the colours of the garden.
Every Somewhere Crazy elopement is planned from the first idea to the last toast, so that the couple can enjoy the day without stress. If you would like a Florence elopement of your own, see how our Florence elopements work and tell us what you imagine.
