Frequently Asked Questions

  • Iceland’s natural beauty is simply stunning - so it’s no wonder that one of the hardest parts is going to be selecting your Iceland elopement location. Here’s our run-through of the four most dramatic and beautiful backdrops for your special day.

Reykjanes Peninsula - With a rugged lava scenery, bubbling geothermal fields, ancient craters, and mineral lakes, Reykjanes Peninsula, located in the southwest corner of Iceland, will surprise and delight you.  Its hidden geological wonders and its landscapes which have been scarred from an age of volcanic activity, make the Reykjanes Peninsula a unique and wild destination for your elopement.

South Iceland - Iceland’s picturesque south coast has a diverse and spectacular natural environment.  The largest glaciers, smoking volcanoes, most dramatic black cliffs, and breathtaking waterfalls combine to make up extremely varied landscapes and the perfect backdrop for your intimate elopement in Iceland.

If you’re visiting the South Coast of Iceland, make sure to stop in Vik which is famous for its black sand beaches and dramatic rock formations. This picturesque village is a popular choice for elopements, with its stunning landscapes providing a truly magical backdrop for your special day.

Another fantastic destination in the South is the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, a mesmerizing glacial lake filled with icebergs. This surreal and ethereal setting is perfect for couples looking for a truly unique elopement experience.

Snæfellsnes Peninsula - The beauty of Iceland’s smallest National Park is just breathtaking. The combination of spectacular mountains, the shining ice cap of the volcano, Snæfellsjökull, lava caves, waterfalls, ancient volcanos, and fishing villages make Snæfellsnes one of the most wonderful places to celebrate your Iceland elopement. Not to mention the wide variety of stunning backdrops for your elopement photoshoot.

Reykjavik - Reykjavik is the capital of the land of fire and ice and is a popular destination for couples who want to have an adventurous elopement. With its tiny downtown area, which can be walked in less than a day, and a surprisingly diverse selection of top-quality museums featuring medieval sagas and thrilling Viking history, Reykjavik is definitely putting itself on the map as one of the most alternative cities to elope in.

Due to its one-of-a-kind geographical structure, no matter what location you choose, eloping in Iceland is always a unique experience!

  • Just like the landscapes, Iceland’s weather is nothing short of dramatic. Even at the peak of the summer, it’s not uncommon to experience all four seasons in one day. Because Iceland is so far north, the island’s daylight hours are an important factor to consider too. If you plan to see the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights, you will need to do your research. Our recommendation is to make your Iceland elopement during spring - when it’s not yet too busy but still warm enough for you to be outside and explore. At the hot springs, you’ll enjoy a great deal more privacy in spring than during peak summer.

  • You will receive the schedule for your wedding elopement in Iceland around two weeks before the big day.

Although every couple's elopement timeline is different (depending on the location, season, and time of the day), generally speaking, the wedding ceremony is usually around 20 minutes long and you can expect photography before, mid, and after the ceremony. The whole experience usually lasts a minimum of four hours but we recommend keeping the whole day available in case plans unexpectedly change (due to unpredictable weather conditions etc.).

The best outdoor lighting tends to be around sunrise and sunset, so we usually recommend that the elopement ceremony is held close to that time.

  • Flying is the fastest way to get to Iceland. All international flights land at Keflavík International Airport, about 31 mins from Reykjavik, Iceland's capital city.

If you choose Iceland as your elopement destination, we recommend hiring a car at your arrival that will serve you to visit small villages, national parks and other regions with minimal public transport, during your adventure elopement and honeymoon.

  • In Iceland, we offer both, elopement packages and our premium service. Besides having everything that’s included in the elopement package, our premium service involves a completely customizable elopement with a 2-day photoshoot, premium venue rental, art direction, and more!
