An Intimate Coastal Elopement in the Algarve

The Algarve is an exceptional elopement destination, known for its dramatic coastline, golden cliffs, and the soft Atlantic light that gives the region a timeless, romantic atmosphere. Combining historic architecture with natural beauty, it offers an ideal balance between elegance and wild landscapes, all within short distances. For their elopement, Cait & Ryan chose the refined setting of Palácio de Estoi for their ceremony, followed by a relaxed and intimate photoshoot at Carvoeiro Beach, where the rugged cliffs and ocean views created a striking contrast to the palace’s classic charm.

Their love story is one shaped by movement, curiosity, and a shared sense of adventure. They met during their freshman year at the University of Oregon in a journalism class, with their first date at a small campus coffee shop. From the very beginning, their relationship unfolded across borders and cities, navigating time apart while studying and working in Spain, London, New York, and beyond. Life together led them from the Pacific Northwest to Tennessee, Chicago, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and eventually across Europe. During a winter trip through Ireland, France, and Italy, Ryan proposed on Christmas Eve at the top of the Duomo in Milan. Since then, they have continued building a life abroad, living in the Netherlands, London, and now France, accompanied along the way by their beloved dogs, Glasgow and Munich. Their Algarve elopement felt like a natural continuation of a journey defined by love, travel, and meaningful places.
