Real couples · Lake Como, Italy
Gemi and Michael chose Lake Como for an elopement that felt as elegant as it was intimate. They said their vows at Villa Carlotta, surrounded by gardens and water, with a violinist playing and green and white flowers all around them. The day ended on a wooden boat crossing the lake. This page follows it from the first photo to the last.
Lake Como is one of the most romantic places to elope in Italy, with mountains that fall straight into the water and gardens made for vows. If you are dreaming of something similar, our Lake Como elopement page shows how we plan it, and our Italy elopement guide shows the other places we love across the country.
Their story
The day began behind the scenes, with both of them getting ready, each counting down to the moment they would see the other. There was hair and makeup, a last look in the mirror and a few quiet nerves. Everything they wore and carried was chosen with care: pearls, gold rings in a red box, and flowers in green and white.
Then came the moment they had both been waiting for. At their first look on the balcony, Michael turned around and saw Gemi for the first time, and neither of them wanted to let go. A quiet kiss in an old lift and a slow walk along the garden paths gave them a few more minutes together before the ceremony.
The ceremony took place on a terrace above Lake Como, with the water and mountains behind them. Green and white flowers lined the ground where they stood, and a violinist filled the air with music. They read their vows to each other, and there were laughs, tears, rings and a long kiss.
Afterwards, they explored Villa Carlotta together, through frescoed rooms, tall doorways, a sunlit balcony and old stone staircases draped in climbing plants. Michael lifted Gemi in a stone archway, they danced down the garden steps, and they held hands along the edge of the lake.
The day closed on the water. They crossed Lake Como on a boat tour with champagne in hand, past villas along the shore, and Gemi raised her bouquet to the sky.
Their story
Gemi and Michael chose our Custom-Made Package, so we designed the day around them. Their planner, Flor, looked after every detail and added three extras: a violinist for the ceremony, flower decorations in green and white, and the boat tour on the lake.
