An intimate Italian wedding in a gorgeous villa

Sarah + Kenny

Umbria, Italy

Sarah and Kenny are a gorgeous couple from New York City, and in the summer of 2019 they wrote to photographer Margherita Calati about eloping in Italy.

They were looking for a secluded location in Tuscany or Umbria, and Margherita suggested lots of possible venues for them.

After lots of research, Sarah found an ancient private villa in Umbria and fell in love with its charm, and Margehrtia wholeheartedly agreed!

The villa is set in a silent garden with long pathways, abundant with trees and with a terrace that is backed by woodland.

Kenny and Sarah wanted an intimate ceremony with a small handful of family present with them (remember, eloping doesn’t mean you CAN’T have any guests!).

They chose to exchange their vows on the garden terrace, and Sarah chose a bright bouquet of flowers to contrast the greenery around and add a pop of colour, which worked amazingly well for the photos.

They read their vows and shared some tears, hugged their families and strolled through the gardens and around local spots in Città della Pieve for photographs, laughing and beaming the entire time.

After spending quality time together just the two of them, they joined their families again in the villa gardens for a beautifully set outdoor dinner of incredible Italian food.

It was the day they had dreamed of, come to life.

Notes from the photographer, Margherita:

“I always love following small and intimate elopements and helping my couples to arrange them, with some suggestions for the best places and vendors. We create a special connection together in the months before the event, and on the wedding day we spend some hours in perfect harmony. It gives me the chance to create a relaxed mood and take intimate photos.”
